The incessant piano part on the The Buzzcocks' Something's Gone Wrong Again sounds exactly like the piano part on The CBS recording of Terry Riley's In C.

yup.

I bet you could do a interesting CD compilation of punk/indie tunes w/ In C type piano (or guitar) and little harmonic motion... Velvets... Stooges... Theoretical Girls etc... leading to Stereolab? And I guess In C comes from La Monte Young (from slowed down serial music) and Indian music. So: punk rock comes from Indian music and serial music.:)
